Have you ever gotten a call from someone who you were just thinking about minutes ago? Or did you ever bump into someone you knew from your own country while vacationing abroad?
In fact, this happened to me just this week. After thinking about her just the day before and how weird it would be if we met accidentally, I had a chance encounter with someone from the USA on a street in Medellín, Colombia.
These encounters may be easily labeled as ‘coincidence’, but the more we discover about the world, the more that assumption seems false.
Did you ever wonder if the universe has an order?
You may have learned in science class the way a cell divides and the unique shape it makes. That’s an order, of some sort.
But did you ever wonder if this organization of physical matter extends to more abstract concepts, such as friendship, love, money, health, and other concepts of life?
Well, according to researchers today, there is an order, not just for physical life, but also for the thoughts and subjects of physical life. It’s called the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction is a law of the universe and it states: that which we focus on will grow.
Let me put this better into perspective. The resources that you are using to read this article have been built twice. In fact, everything on Earth has been built twice.
Take your computer or phone, for example. It was created once in someone’s mind, and then again with physical materials. Through continued focus on one outcome, a specific vision, these things have been made possible to exist.
This is true for every single thing that exists.
The more we put our thoughts and actions behind a belief, the more that belief will grow. The more that belief grows, the more action we put into making that a truth in our realities. As more action makes it a reality, the more we will see it come to play in our lives.
But What Does This Have to Do With Us and Our Lives?
The Law of Attraction is working in every moment of every day.
This means your thoughts are influencing what you see in your reality. At the same time, you are being influenced by your reality, as well.
However, you have a lot more choice in how much you are being influenced than you may think.
Because the Law of Attraction works all the time and because we all have beliefs (which come from the repetition of thoughts), the Law of Attraction is working for you right now. It’s determining what comes next, and next, and next, and everything thereafter.
So it stands to reason we should get a grip on our thoughts and emotions, both of which are intertwined, after all.
How Can We Use the Law of Attraction to Our Advantage?
Well I’m glad you asked. By thinking positively, we place our focus on things that make us feel good (thoughts that feel bad focus us on what is not good for us). When we feel good, we are consequently thinking good-feeling thoughts, and so the cycle repeats. Therefore, we attract more good into our lives. It’s law.
This is why you hear some people preaching, “you have to be positive” or “quit being so negative”.
This is why it’s so important to think and say things that you want in your life, do things that make you happy, and be the person you want to be.
I’ll give you an example, because I know how complicated this subject can feel.
There are always two ways to look at something: negatively and positively.
So if I were to be thinking about my health, I might have a thought like this: “I’m sick and miserable all of the time”. That thought feels pretty bad because it’s misaligned with my desire to feel good in my body. I’m thinking the opposite of what I want.
But on the flip side, I could think “when I get sick, it strengthens my immune system so that I am able to fight off a more serious disease”. This thought feels good because it’s aligned with something that I want, which is good health and feeling good in my body.
You are the interpreter of what feels positive and what feels negative, based on your past life experiences.
The Universe Doesn’t See “Good” and “Bad”
The universe can’t tell the difference between what you deem as “positive” or “negative” because YOU are the one labeling those things positive or negative. The universe just sees everything as is. What it is interpreting from you is the energy or the “vibrations” you give out.
“Vibrations” is just another word for “feeling”. A vibration feels a certain way. It is an accumulation of your thoughts and emotions in any given moment.
“Negative” vibrations are low vibrations and they feel bad to us. “Positive” vibrations are high vibrations and they feel good.
The universe sees these vibrations and brings you more similar-feeling vibrations, emotions, and events in every moment.
Throughout the day, our vibrations will change–by our direction or misdirection–and therefore change the events and feelings that come our way. It’s important to feel good for countless reasons. But, arguably one of the most important is so that we attract more good into our lives.
But How Do I Know This is True?
I don’t blame you for having doubts. I had plenty of my own to start, and most everyone does. I mean, I’m sharing something that has the potential to change your entire life and the way it works. And unless you know me in real life, I’m just a stranger on the internet.
However, I have dedicated a chunk of this blog and much of my life to helping people discover this secret and use it to their advantage. I aim to cultivate trust from my readers, and lying to you wouldn’t accomplish that.
Still, I know saying this still won’t eliminate all of your doubts, so below I explain some concepts that support the Law of Attraction.
My first example comes from a well-known phenomenon within the body called “mirror neurons”. Mirror neurons are microscopic cells in the brain that have been discovered to mirror that which we see. For example, mirror neurons are responsible for the urge to yawn after seeing someone else yawn.
There are many other examples that manifest the actions of mirror neurons. A couple of these include a person mimicking the movements of someone he or she likes or agrees with, or a dog sensing your fear and acting negatively in response.
Basically, it is proof you are affecting the world with your actions, and it explains how good vibrations are spread throughout the world. When you are positive and kind, those with whom you interact are inspired to act positively and kindly towards you.
You can learn more about mirror neurons here, and the studies that have been done to support this concept.
Scientists aren’t the only ones raving about all of this. If you’re a fan of Oprah Winfrey, you’ll know how much she talks about and advocates for the Law of Attraction.
Some other legendary names have utilized the law for themselves as well, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Smith, and Jim Carrey.
In fact, Jim Carrey talks about the check he wrote to himself for $10,000,000 for “acting services rendered”. Later, he received a contract for $10,000,000 for the movie “Dumb and Dumber”. He credits his success to his visualization and faith in his dream.
Test It For Accuracy
While all of this goes a long way to strengthening your belief in the Law of Attraction, the only way you will truly know is if you test and experience it for yourself.
Start small. Think about something random, like yellow feathers. Whatever it is, choose something that you wouldn’t normally see in your life on a consistent basis. Spend a couple of minutes thinking about it.
Think about it often throughout the day. Set reminders if you have to.
And then, watch it show up. Over and over again. In movies, in real life, on social media, whatever. You will begin to start seeing it everywhere.
Regardless of if you believe this is “real” or not, I think we all can agree that thinking more positively and truly believing things that inevitably benefit you (thoughts like “I am strong”, for example) is going to be good for you and your life simply for the actions you take in alignment with that belief.
By thinking you are strong, you’re going to take more chances that improve your life, lift heavier weights, run longer, or hike up a mountain.
When I first found out about this law, I had a hard time believing it. I found out by watching the movie “The Secret”, and I was fascinated at the start, but a few years went by and I kind of just forgot about it.
And then, I came across another source of information, Abraham Hicks, who better explained the topic and made me really believe in what this is all about.
I’ve tested it for myself many times, and now I use it daily in every moment that I remember to.
The summer after finding Abraham Hicks, I started to lose more weight than I ever had in my life (around 60 pounds/27 kg), just because I put my focus and belief in how I wanted to look and feel.
This doesn’t take that much effort. It shouldn’t be a struggle.
It takes work, but it should be fun work. It should be something that feels right to do. If you’re dreading the work, then it’s not going to work. The whole point is to feel good while doing it. Pay attention to what is happening in your body.
But How Do We Know How We Feel?
It’s easy to numb yourself to your feelings, especially if you tend to go through life on autopilot. This is why it’s important to bring your awareness back to your body and every sensation that it gives you. Meditation helps a lot with this.
Whatever it is, do you get tingles when you think about it? Do you breath deeper, sit up straighter, open your eyes wider?
Or do you clench your muscles, take shallow breaths, and feel a nervous pit in your stomach?
Pay attention to these signs, but don’t complicate it. Simply ask yourself: do I feel good right now, or bad?
You will get an answer if you’re quiet enough. For even better results, meditate if you’re truly serious about having a better life. Guaranteed, this will change your world for the better if you put in the necessary focus to live your dreams.
It’s not going to be easy, and it’s probably never going to be perfect, but perfection isn’t happiness.
When you can get real with yourself and what you want and bring your thoughts and emotions in sync with your desires, you can move mountains. Your problems will start to dissipate as you let them. For more information, check out the following resources.
